~Memory Of A Heart Attack~

When my eldest daughter was around 3 years of age, she made a comment to me that really surprised me.

It also upset me some, and I have never forgotten about it since.

My daughter and I were in our living room. I had our t.v turned off, and we were listening to music.

I was sitting on the floor with her, while her and I coloured together in one of her colouring books.

My daughter was chattering away to me. She was talking about all sorts of things. I couldn't help but smile because she was such a little chatterbox.

She had been laying on the floor on her tummy while colouring, and all of a sudden sat up and said to me, "Mommy, do you remember the time I died?"

I immediately looked at her, wondering what would make her say that. It surprised me to hear her say that and actually upset me. I asked her why she would say that.

She just shrugged her shoulders and said, "I dunno. But don't you remember?" She then began colouring her picture again.

I told her that I didn't know what she was talking about. I then asked her, "Why? You remember when you died?"

While still colouring and not even looking up at me she said, "Yeah. Remember all the people that came to our house? They were sad and crying because I died."

While still looking at my daughter I said, "No honey, I don't remember any of that. Is this a dream you had?"

She replied, "No.  Remember? I was old and died. Lots of people came to our house. There were lots of pretty flowers too."

I had no clue what she was talking about and quite honestly it was scaring me a bit. I had no idea where all of it was coming from. I didn't think she could have seen it on t.v because I closely monitored what she watched which wasn't all that much television. Still, I asked her if she had seen this on t.v, if it was a movie she had perhaps seen or if she saw it on a t.v show.

She looked at me and seemed rather irritated with me. She said, "No mommy. I'm talking about before. For real. A long time ago. I was old and died and everyone was really sad. They came to our house because I died."

I told her I didn't remember it. She said, "How could you forget? You were sad and cried, remember?"

I then asked her how she died. Without skipping a beat or even looking up at me, she simply said, "A heart attack."

I was shocked to say the very least. I couldn't understand why she would use that term "heart attack", she had never even heard of it before, at least not that I was aware of. I asked her where she learned or heard about heart attacks.

She said, "Because that's why I died. Everyone was around my bed. I had a heart attack. My heart would not work no more. I died and then went up from my body." She then showed me with her hands how she went up. She then told me it was like she was floating, and told me that she became a blue light.

I just sat there looking at her as she continued to colour.   could not believe she had come out with such a story, and I didn't have a clue where she could have learnt any of it. I then asked her how long ago this happened. She simply shrugged her shoulders and said, "I dunno. It was a long time before." She then told me she was finished colouring her picture. She then got up and started to head out of the living room towards the hallway. I said, "Where are you going? You don't want to colour any more?" She said, "No. I wanna' go play in my room." I just smiled at her and said "okay".

I immediately called my parents and told them all about it. They were almost as freaked out about it as I was.

I attempted to talk to my daughter later that evening about everything she had said, but she wouldn't talk about it. In fact she never talked about it again.
